Ronaldinho’s son has officially signed his first contract with Barcelona after a successful trial with their under-19 team.
The winger was unveiled by Barcelona on Thursday, March 2, while posing for photos next to academy director Jose Ramon Alexanco.
Joao de Assis Moreira, also known as Joao Mendes, is following in his father’s footsteps. Ronaldinho, who made 145 appearances for Barcelona, and will now join the La Masia academy to further develop his skills.
According to ESPN, Mendes’ contract is expected to run until the summer of 2024, after which he will have to leave the U-19 team due to his age. The club will then decide whether to extend his contract once it expires.
