Chaka Zulu, Ludacris' Manager, and Two Others Shot in Atlanta

A triple shooting in Atlanta on Monday morning, June 27, resulted in injuries to Chaka Zulu, a music executive and long-time manager of rapper Ludacris, as well as the death of one man and the injury of another.

After being rushed to the hospital, Zulu is currently listed in stable condition and is recovering. Another victim, 23-year-old Artez Benton of Scottdale, was taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The identity and condition of the third victim in the shooting have not yet been released. At present, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

According to authorities, the shooting took place on the 2200 block of Peachtree Road and was a result of a verbal dispute in a parking lot shared by several local businesses.

Former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed released a statement, reporting, “We are fortunate to report that Chaka Zulu is in stable condition and recovering. The family thanks everyone for their well wishes and prayers, and asks for their privacy at this time.”

Chaka Zulu, one of the founders of Disturbing Tha Peace Records, played a significant role in introducing Ludacris to the public as the rapper’s manager and in brokering Luda’s deal with Def Jam South, which led to the rapper’s multi-platinum success.
