Condemnation from La Liga President Javier Tebas on Federico Valverde’s Punching Incident of Alex Baena

La Liga president Javier Tebas condemns Federico Valverde for punching fellow footballer Alex Baena in the face

La Liga president, Javier Tebas, has expressed strong disapproval towards Federico Valverde for the act of punching Alex Baena, a player from Villarreal, in the face.

Allegedly, Baena had made a comment to Valverde earlier in the season with regards to his unborn child, which has been denied by the 21-year-old. The incident occurred following Real Madrid’s defeat to Villarreal, where Valverde punched Baena as he was boarding the team bus.

Tebas weighed in on the matter, condemning Valverde’s act of violence, stating that provocation does not justify such actions. He stated, “The provocation is a mitigation, it is never the justification of the fact. It will be anti-violence who has to impose the corresponding sanctions. It is a reprehensible action.”

While Valverde will avoid sporting punishment as Villarreal decided against reporting the incident to the Spanish Football Federation, Baena himself reported the incident to the police due to receiving death threats since the incident came to light.

Villarreal confirmed in a statement that the police will now be involved, indicating a potential involvement of Spain’s Anti-Violence Commission.

Valverde’s wife, Mina Bonino, addressed Baena’s alleged comment on Twitter, sharing details and expressing her ordeal.
