NFL star Zac Stacy has been sentenced to six months in jail and one year of probation by a judge in Orange County, Florida for two separate attacks on his ex-girlfriend.

Stacy’s arrest in 2021 followed his ex-girlfriend, Kristin Evans, showing detectives a video of the attack at her Central Florida home, according to authorities.

A security video from inside the home depicted Stacy striking Evans multiple times before throwing her into a television set and onto the floor, as per police reports.

31-year-old Stacy entered a plea deal in the domestic violence case earlier this month, resulting in the dropping of some charges.

Evans requested the court to sentence Stacy to probation only, while the state requested a year in jail. The judge, describing the video evidence as shocking, settled on a six-month jail term, two years of probation, counseling, and other programs.

Both parties observed a video of the incident being played in court. Evans had to describe the events, her injuries, and the impact of the attack. Since then, Stacy and Evans have begun to share custody of their son.

The court also heard directly from Stacy. The judge allowed him to apologize to Evans directly.

“Chris, I’m very sorry for my actions. I’m very sorry for what happened and how I hurt you,” he said. “I just wasn’t mentally or emotionally healthy, and there is absolutely no justification for what I did, no excuses for my actions toward you. I never meant to hurt you, and even with the progression we made towards co-parenting, I hope deep down you can forgive me for what I’ve caused and done to you.”

Stacy was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 2013 NFL Draft and played two seasons there, followed by one season with the New York Jets.
