Ghana/Fiorentina Footballer Alfred Duncan's Take on Racial Injustice

Ghana’s Alfred Duncan, a footballer for Fiorentina, has voiced his perspective on the ongoing protests against racial injustice and inequality worldwide. He emphasized that he will never perceive himself as inferior, as all humans were created from dust and will eventually return to dust.

The midfielder, who has experienced racist attacks while playing in Italy, made these thought-provoking remarks in response to the global protests following the tragic killing of Black American George Floyd in Minneapolis. Floyd died after a police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes.

Thousands of people worldwide have united to demand an end to police brutality, including Ghanaian footballers such as Kevin-Prince Boateng, Thomas Partey, and Michael Essien. Duncan has now shared his own heartfelt thoughts.

“I have been a victim numerous times, subjected to humiliation, insults, and disregard by those around me,” Duncan posted on Instagram.

“I am aware, and I need no reminder, that I am black, and I am immensely proud of who I am and what I represent! People often forget that we all come from dust and will eventually return to it.

“Nobody is born racist; it is a matter of upbringing and education, starting from home. I refuse to feel inferior to anyone for any reason! We are all human, and that’s the only race I recognize.

“Following a trending black post on social media doesn’t absolve you of racism. I will not tolerate any form of mistreatment, as I do not mistreat anyone. I urge my fellow brothers to stay resilient because anyone who attempts to bring you down is already beneath you.

“Hate is an incurable disease! I am human, and I take pride in being myself.”
