Spanish football icon Cesc Fabregas’ wife has denied reports that Lionel Messi cheated on his wife Antonela Roccuzzo.
Brazilian outlet Direto Do Miolo on Saturday claimed on social media that Messi and Roccuzzo were facing the “biggest crisis” in their 15 years of marriage.
The publication alleged that Messi had an affair with Argentine journalist Sofia Martinez.
They also claimed the couple’s marriage was on the brink.
But the post quoted sources from Spain that do not appear to exist.
And Daniella Semaan, wife of ex-Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea man Fabregas, has quashed the rumours.
She said: “What publication is this that has no meaning and has nothing right.”
Fabregas and Semaan regularly holiday with Messi and Roccuzzo.
Messi and Fabregas played together as youngsters at Barcelona’s La Masia academy.
They then featured alongside each other for three years in Barcelona’s first team when Fabregas joined from Arsenal in 2011.
Messi and Roccuzzo, who have known each other since they were five years old, have three children together - Thiago, 11, Mateo, 8, and Ciro, 5.
Journalist Martinez made headlines at the World Cup last year when she produced a passionate speech at the end of an interview with Messi following Argentina’s semi-final triumph, The Sun reports.
She said: “The last thing I want to tell you, and is not a question, but I just wanted to say; the World Cup final is coming and sure, we all [Argentinians] want to win the Cup.
“I just want to tell you that no matter the results, there’s something that no one can take from you and that is the fact you resonated with Argentinians, every single one. I’m being serious.
“There’s no kid who doesn’t have your team shirt. No matter if it is a fake, real or made up one.
“Truly, you made your mark in everyone’s life and that to me is beyond winning any World Cup.
“No one can take that from you and this is my gratitude for such amount of happiness you bring to a lot of people.
“I seriously hope you take these words into your heart because I really believe that’s more important than winning a World Cup and you already have it, so thank you captain.”
Meanwhile, Messi was last week accused of showing his “true personality” with a former Paris Saint-Germain player claiming the Argentina legend has been “caught out”.
Jerome Rothen, a former French international that retired in 2013, says Messi has acted differently since his glory days at the Nou Camp out on the pitch along with the rest of his Argentina colleagues since becoming world champions.
Messi and Rodrygo were allegedly involved in a spat during Argentina’s win in Brazil in midweek, with the great accused by some media outlets of making a smug remark to his rival.
Rothen, 45, said: “When it comes to their behaviour, they are the first to attack others. Starting with the star of this team, Leo Messi.
“Now that he is a world champion and has had a good rest ahead of the World Cup since two years ago at PSG.
“He used to have the image of a sweet guy, but now he has changed because his true personality is coming out and he got caught.”
Rothen continued: “Today you can’t even touch him anymore. Only when he takes a hit does he make the same comment he made to Rodrygo last night when he said, ‘Hey, I’m a world champion’.
“The team reflects an image of Argentines. Argentine nationality is like that and you feel superior because of someone else. They could have more class.”
