According to former Manchester United player, Gary Neville, there is still a glimmer of hope for the team to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Neville shared his thoughts on Sky Sports after United’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City over the weekend.
This defeat marked the Red Devils’ second consecutive loss, following their 2-1 defeat against Fulham at Old Trafford the previous weekend.
Expressing his views, Neville stated, “Last week’s defeat against Fulham posed a bigger concern than today’s result. It was somewhat expected to end in a loss today.”
“Aston Villa will face Spurs next week, so there’s a possibility that both teams might drop points, allowing United to close the gap. Despite their inconsistency, there is still hope for United,” Neville added.
With 44 points from 27 matches, United currently sits in sixth place in the standings.
