Melbourne woman jailed for killing teen friend while driving on GHB

A Melbourne woman who killed her 16-year-old friend in a crash, while under the influence of the drug GHB has been jailed for at least three years.

Taylah Perrin, now 20, was jailed for a maximum five years on today after the court found her culpable for the death of her friend who was in the car at the time of the crash.

Georgina Foran, 16, was gravely injured when Perrin, high on GHB, lost control of the car and crashed into a pole in Frankston in July of 2017.

Ms Foran did not regain consciousness and died 16 days later in hospital. Perrin was also seriously injured in the accident.

Perrin was 18 at the time of the accident, and was later charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, driving in a dangerous manner, careless driving, driving while impaired by drugs, disobeying traffic control signals and possessing a drug of dependence.

County Court Judge Julie Condon on Thursday set a three-year non-parole period and said Perrin no doubt felt dreadful about her actions, which caused devastating loss for Ms Foran’s family and friends.
