James Hetfield
Metallica's main songwriter, rhythm guitarist, and lead vocalist, James Alan Hetfield (born August 3, 1963, Downey, California), co-founded the band with Lars Ulrich. Virgil Hetfield (a truck driver) and Cynthia Hetfield had a son named James Hetfield (an opera singer). They were devout Christians who followed Christian Science. He was exposed to a variety of musical instruments from an early age. Aerosmith was his primary inspiration, according to him, and they were the ones that inspired him to pick up the guitar.
Kirk Hammett
Metallica's lead guitarist, Kirk Lee Hammett (born November 18, 1962), of this well-known thrash metal band. In 1980, he co-founded the thrash metal band Exodus. With vocalist Paul Baloff, guitarist Gary Holt, bassist Geoff Andrews, and drummer Tom Hunting, he established the thrash metal band Exodus. In 1983, he was asked to join Metallica after Dave Mustaine, the previous lead guitarist, was dismissed. Kirk was born to a Filipino mother and an Irish Merchant Marine father in San Francisco. When his family relocated to the East Bay, he joined De Anza High School in El Sobrante, California.
Lars Ulrich
Lars Ulrich is the drummer and co-founder of the California heavy metal band Metallica. He was born on December 26, 1963. As a drummer, he is widely regarded as a pioneer of fast thrash metal drum beats. He was born in the Danish town of Gentofte. Despite the fact that many describe his style as "basic," he is recognised as one of metal's most badass drummers. Ulrich's godfather was saxophonist Dexter Gordon.
Robert Trujillo
Metallica's fourth and current bassist, Roberto Trujillo was born on October 23, 1964. He played bass for Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, and Black Label Society, as well as solo musicians like Ozzy Osbourne and Jerry Cantrell, before joining Metallica.

Metallica Band History and Where are They Now?
Metallica was created in late 1981 in Los Angeles after Danish drummer Lars Ulrich put an ad in a local newspaper. "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head, and Iron Maiden," the ad read. Leather Charm guitarists James Hetfield and Hugh Tanner responded to the ad. There were ups and downs in the beginning, with band members changing multiple times before the group's current lineup was established. When Ulrich, Hetfield, and guitarist Dave Mustaine eventually met bassist Cliff Burton, they were so desperate to have him join the band that they all decided to relocate to San Francisco to be with him. Since then, Metallica has been paying tribute to its former bass player during their shows.
In 1990, the song "One" was published. Despite the fact that the seven-minute song was extremely long by commercial standards, the video was the most popular on MTV. In 1990, they won their first Grammy for best metal performance. In 1991, they released their fifth studio album. The megahits "Enter Sandman" and "Nothing Else Matters" were included on Metallica's The Black Album, which was also known as The Black Album because of its cover.
After James Hetfield's second trip in treatment in 2019, the band is claimed to be "in a very healthy place," busy writing new tracks. Following a hiatus due to the epidemic, they have resumed touring, with larger gigs scheduled in the future, including an appearance at the Hockenheimring festival in Germany in June 2022. The band has also stated that they would not be stopping anytime soon. And, as James Hetfield put it a few years ago: "Look, musicians never retire. They just become less popular," he explained. "It's what I do on this planet. That's why I've been put here, I believe. And if I stop that, part of me dies. There's no retirement. So we do what we do until physically we can't do it."
