Rapper Missy Elliott’s Mother Set to Witness Her Historical Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Allowing her Christian mother, Patricia, to watch her perform live for the first time ever has been revealed by Missy Elliott. This momentous occasion comes after decades of dissuasion.

This Friday, October 3, Missy Elliott, the 52-year-old hip-hop star, will etch her name in history as the first-ever female rapper to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In an interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, the Grammy-winning musician admitted to her previous reluctance of having her Christian mother in the audience but has made an exception to celebrate this milestone moment.

Missy Elliott expressed, “My mother has never seen me perform before. She’s seen me on TV but she has never been to a show. I had some little words I didn’t ever want her to hear. She’s coming for the first time.”

It was confirmed in May that Missy Elliott, whose real name is Melissa Arnette Elliott, would be the first female rapper inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Reflecting on the honor, she told Robin that she couldn’t adequately describe how she felt about the achievement.

She elaborated, “It just hasn’t clicked. When you are in the hip hop world, it seems so far out of reach.”

“And it being the 50th year of hip hop anniversary. Just the whole thing, it adds layers.” She concluded, “No matter what people say, the hip hop world is something special and unique.”
