Talented Nigerian Secures 40 Scholarship Offers In the United States



Achunike Okafor, an exceptional Nigerian student, has been recognized by Science Park High School in Newark, New Jersey, for his remarkable achievements.

Okafor has been awarded an International Baccalaureate diploma from the school, boasting an exceptional grade-point average of 4.625.

Reports indicate that his GPA is the highest among the 2,649 graduates in the Class of 2023 in Newark and is the all-time record for the city’s public school district.

This remarkable feat has resulted in Okafor receiving over 40 scholarship offers from prestigious universities, including Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Princeton, Penn State, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Southern California, and Rutgers.

Sharing his appreciation for the opportunities presented to him, Okafor expressed, “I am grateful for the chances to attend such esteemed universities and to represent my family and community. I fully understand the privilege and responsibility of being one of the select individuals chosen for such honors.”

The 18-year-old intends to pursue a neuroscience degree at Harvard University.

Principal Darlene Gearhart of Science Park described Okafor as an exceptional individual, emphasizing his modesty, determination, and diligence.

She stated, “There is absolutely nothing ordinary about him. He possesses humility, drive, and a strong work ethic. He has always been an outstanding student. He is always eager to acquire knowledge.”
