Ezra Miller was born on September 30, 1992 in New Jersey to Marta and Robert S. Miller. At the time of his birth, his father was the managing director and vice president of Hyperion Books (now Hachette Books). He later worked at an independent publishing company – Workman Publishing – as a publisher. His mother is a modern dancer of German/Dutch descent while his father is Jewish.
Miller is the only son as well as the youngest of his parents’ three children. His sisters are Saiya and Caitlin. To help Miller overcome a language problem, his parents enrolled him at a music school at the age of six to train as an opera singer. Ezra performed with the Metropolitan Opera as a child and in 2001, at the age of nine, appeared in the world premiere of Philip Glass’s contemporary opera White Raven.

In a 2012 interview with Out Magazine, Ezra Miller revealed his sexual orientation as odd. According to the young actor, he would not want to call himself gay because he is mainly interested in the opposite sex, however, he added that he has many wonderful friends who are all of different genders and he loves equally and is open to love , regardless of who it comes from.
