The announcement from the Basketball Hall of Fame states that NBA legend Kobe Bryant will be inducted into the Hall of Fame bypassing the usual election process.
According to a statement by Shams Charania of The Athletic on Twitter, Hall of Fame chairman Jerry Colangelo has confirmed the induction of Bryant in the 2020 class, which may also include Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.
Kobe Bryant is set to be a first-ballot enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2020.
“Expected to be arguably the most epic class ever with Kobe, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett,” HOF chairman Jerry Colangelo says. “Kobe will be honored the way he should be.”
Bryant will go through the standard Hall of Fame screening process on Wednesday, with finalists in February at All-Star break and formal inductees at the Final 4 in April.

This announcement follows the tragic helicopter crash on Sunday, which claimed the lives of the LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others.
Throughout his illustrious career, Kobe Bryant earned five NBA championships, made 18 All-Star appearances, and garnered 15 selections to an All-NBA team. He currently holds the fourth position in all-time points and owns every Lakers’ scoring record.
