Real Madrid have set their sights on appointing Brighton head coach, Roberto de Zerbi, as their next manager following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from Santiago Bernabeu.
Ancelotti is likely to leave Real Madrid for the second time at the end of the current 2023/24 season.
Several names have been mentioned as potential candidates to replace the Italian, including former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who currently manages Bayer Leverkusen.
However, Cadena reports that Real Madrid will make every effort to convince De Zerbi to take charge at Santiago Bernabeu.
De Zerbi took over at Brighton last season after Graham Potter, following his departure from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 44-year-old instantly won over Brighton fans with his attractive and positive style of football, leading the team to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season and their first-ever qualification for European football.
